Coolicon shades originated in the 1930s in Britain and were a feature in many aspects of life - the London Underground, the Royal Airforce, throughout the industrial heartlands of Britain, in village halls and corridors of power. Our Coolicon heritage shades are recreated to exacting standards from an original and authentic 1933 design which has a vented top which allows light to be directed upwards as well as downwards. They are made in the UK from finest steel and vitreous enamel. Hugely nostalgic. Please note that as the enamelling is done by hand, minor irregularities may occur. This would have been a feature of original shades too and therefore adds to the authentic feel.
