About this piece Raku ceramic Heart created by Julian Smith of Kinsale. Handcrafted using the 16th century Raku technique originating in Japan. Each piece is rapidly fired and then removed from the kiln when glowing red hot creating the crackle effect shown. Stunning unique colours are created when the piece is placed in a container with combustible materials and the Raku design is complete.  The ceramic heart depicting the Knocknarea mountain in Sligo is a great gift idea to remind someone of home.
