In my opinion, this is the best-looking roof rack on the market. I installed the rack myself in about two hours. I have worked with extruded aluminum before, so there might be a bit of a learning curve if you have never threaded steel bolts into aluminum before. It is not difficult, but there is a certain feel and touch that can help you avoid stripping the threads. I have hauled a sheet of plywood, kayaks, bicycles, and a stand-up paddle-board on the rack. So far, so good! My one other piece of advice is to try to plan your use cases for the rack well before you need to load it up. Mounting things to any aluminum extrusion takes a bit of forethought and planning. I do not see this as a knock against Victory, because any style of rack that uses similar extrusions will have similar challenges. I have purchased several extra bolt sets and other mounting hardware, both from Victory and third-party suppliers, to round out my kit and have the flexibility to secure many different loads. </div> <div class="tgreviews-review__storenote"> <em><strong>Note From Victory 4x4:</strong> Thanks for the review and advice, Jeremy!</em> </div> <div class="tgreivews-breaker"></div> </div> <div class="tgreivews-breaker"></div> <div class="tgreviews-review" itemprop="review" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"> <div class="tgreviews-rating-title"> <span class="tgreviews-review__title" itemprop="name">2008 GX470 Rack</span> <div class="tgreviews-review__rating-info" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating"> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <meta itemprop="worstRating" content="1"> <meta itemprop="ratingValue" content="4.62"> <meta itemprop="bestRating" content="5"> </div> </div> <div class="tgreviews-review__user"> <span itemprop="author">Danielle Kelsch</span> (Arizona) | May 8th, 2023 </div> <div class="tgreviews-review__summary" itemprop="description"> Fast shipping, easy to assemble, packaged wonderfully, very light, and of course looks super clean! Had to tinker with the front fairing a bit to get the wind noise down to a minimum. FYI for people with gx470 that I learned that wasn’t mentioned in the video. The weather stripping between the rear and middle rack to body mounts need to be cut a few inches, the middle mount will not lay flush on the bolt holes until you cut the strip. Secondly they recommend putting the weather stripping provided in the kit on the pointed corners of the back of the rack. On the gx470 those corners don’t touch the car but the middle of the rack does. So instead of cutting the remaining strip in half and putting them on those corners, I just centered the strip in the middle of the rack on the back side. Otherwise I followed all other directions and everything went smoothly </div> <div class="tgreviews-review__storenote"> <em><strong>Note From Victory 4x4:</strong> Thanks for the review and tips, Danielle!</em> </div> <div class="tgreivews-breaker"></div> </div> <div class="tgreivews-breaker"></div> <div class="tgreviews-review" itemprop="review" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Review"> <div class="tgreviews-rating-title"> <span class="tgreviews-review__title" itemprop="name">Rack Em' Up!</span> <div class="tgreviews-review__rating-info" itemprop="reviewRating" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Rating"> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <span class="tgreviews-rating-stars">★</span> <meta itemprop="worstRating" content="1"> <meta itemprop="ratingValue" content="4.62"> <meta itemprop="bestRating" content="5"> </div> </div> <div class="tgreviews-review__user"> <span itemprop="author">Stephen Flatt</span> (Nashville) | July 28th, 2022 </div> <div class="tgreviews-review__summary" itemprop="description"> Its hard for me to be impressed this day in age and very few things exceed my expectations; however, this roof rack from Victory 4x4 has far exceeded my expectations. The instructions video on YouTube was very thorough and easy to follow. This is a very easy rack to assemble. The only hard part is placing the rack on the vehicle. I used my wife and daughter (we are a tall family) to place it very gently on top of the GX. I did roll up some small towels, just as a precaution, and placed the racks feet upon the towels. That was the hardest part which was not that hard. Take your time and all should go well. Function: I have had two small Yakima racks on it at once with no problems. I put a piece of plywood on top and used some homemade T-nuts to secure it. My wife and I put chairs on top and watched a concert in the park. I am impressed with the strength and the things you can do with it due to the T-Nut function. I am also very happy that the powder coating is holding up well in the Florida sun. So far, the rack has held up great and we have used it on some light overland trips and on some long vacation trips to the Florida Keys. There is no extra wind noise noticeable by my ear and the decibel app on my iPhone. It does allow you to use your sunroof a bit more. It seems to get rid of the buffeting that I had without the rack. It is a great product that if nothing else takes the “Soccer Parents look” out of the Gx 460 Future plans are to order the Victory Awning Mounts and maybe the Accessory Mounts for some Rotopax containers. </div> <div class="tgreivews-breaker"></div> </div> <div class="tgreivews-breaker"></div> </div> </div> </div> <input name="tabs" type="radio" id="tab-4" class="input"/> <label for="tab-4" class="tablabel">FAQ</label> <div class="panel"> </div> </div> </div> <!-- Container --> </div> <span id="sa-codes" style="display:none" data-code1="7040XX" data-code2="" data-code3="" data-store="" data-storecode="V" data-basket="https://www.victory4x4.com/BASK.html" ></span> <!-- Choose Finish: Select One Powdercoat (FREE) Quantity: Add to Cart Description This roof rack system allows for mounting almost anything, freeing up valuable cargo space for other trip essentials. Newest Questions Oldest Questions Newest Answers Oldest Answers Q Jay • 04/11/2020, 6:29:41 PM What are the dimensions of the rack? A 04/20/2020, 3:22:25 PM Roughly 77 x 47" usable area. Q Mike • 05/19/2020, 0:43:43 AM What are the static and dynamic load (weight) ratings for your rack? A 05/19/2020, 2:35:51 PM Lexus rates the GX roof with a factory rack at "Max load 130 lbs evenly distributed." Our rack itself can handle significantly more weight than that, and we've had 250 lbs dynamic weight on it without issue, static capacity is certainly well above that. All these weight will be at your discretion as they are above Lexus "recommended" capacities. If you need more information please contact us directly at [email protected] Q Toan • 06/04/2020, 12:38:32 PM I see you mentioned the cross bars are "Milled T-nut access points" is that the same as the cross bars being "center bore"? Q Benjamin • 04/06/2021, 0:01:58 AM What be your recommended mounting solution for putting maxxtrax on the side of your rack? A 04/12/2021, 1:13:17 PM Sorry we don't have a solution for that. Q Rob • 04/30/2021, 8:30:08 PM Rooftop tent is 60x90. Too wide given the rack width (47)? A 05/05/2021, 1:00:12 PM It would stick out 6 or so inches a side and you'd need to be sure it was spaced up enough to clear the side rails and such. Q Lito Mercado • 05/16/2021, 2:55:42 PM Are there ant special attachments I need to mount a Thule cargo box to this rack? A 05/21/2021, 9:59:41 AM Thule's universal mounts may work, we haven't tested here at the shop specifically. Q Raymond • 06/27/2021, 1:27:51 PM For the rear fairing, is it possible to mount scene lights? if so, what would be best way? would like to install baja designs s2 pro lights if that info helps. A 07/08/2021, 1:15:34 PM The faring is angled, so scene lights wouldn't really point well. We recommend our VRKLT brackets for pod lighting, or VRKLED for side lighting on the rack. Q Mark R • 06/30/2021, 7:35:09 PM You state this rack adds about 2.5" to the roof height. Is that 2.5" above the tip of the antenna or still within the antenna height? I have limited room with fitting into my garage so this is important! Thank you. A 07/08/2021, 1:33:12 PM 2.5" above the roof sheetmetal. Q Josh • 07/05/2021, 9:09:37 PM Will this work with a 06 Nissan Xterra? A 07/08/2021, 2:01:38 PM It will not. Q Michael • 07/28/2021, 12:13:10 PM The awning I ordered is considerably heavier than I thought it would be how much side hanging weight can it handle? A 08/12/2021, 4:01:01 PM Quite a bit, but try and put your awning mounts near roof mounting brackets for the most stiffness. We would not hesitate to mount a 270 awning. Q Bennett Tripp • 09/02/2021, 1:18:02 AM Will this fit on 2003 Nissan Pathfinder LE? A 09/02/2021, 3:54:08 PM It will not. Q Mike • 09/06/2021, 8:15:02 PM Will it fit a 2012 chevy tahoe. I looked at the install doc and didn't see a reference to the factory side rails. A 10/25/2021, 11:42:59 AM Yes, the factory rails will need to come off first. I believe the photo you are looking at is on a silver GX. The space between the sunroof and roof rack rail looks a little like a factory rail. Q tyler heiman • 11/04/2021, 10:52:16 PM Will this roof rack work with the new Yakima CBX roof cargo box? A 11/05/2021, 10:07:19 AM We have not tested this, but it looks like it should mount to the crossbars without a problem. A 01/24/2022, 1:43:42 PM The only issue with not running a lightbar is you may have increased wind noise. Q Grayson • 03/16/2022, 4:40:05 PM Could a RTT sit directly on the side rail with the addition of some extra fairing trim on top of the side rail? A 03/18/2022, 9:27:23 AM There shouldn't be a need for it to sit directly on the side rails. There are typically mounting rails on the bottom of the tent that will then sit on the rack crossbars. We recommend using our Roof Rack Roof Top Tent Mounting Brackets. Q Riz Amanuddin • 04/13/2022, 8:28:46 PM Will standard kayak or SUP racks fit with the cross bars ? A 04/27/2022, 12:01:31 PM For racks, use a Yakima JayLow with the rubber mounting pads removed, or many universal J-mounts will work on the bars as well. Q Ryan • 05/27/2022, 9:37:39 PM Your directions for the GX460 show 5 sets of mounting holes for the roof mounts on each rail. The primary diagram shows 5 sets, and the other photos show five sets. The pictures show you utilizing set, two, three, and five, BUT the written directions say to use set two, three, and four. What’s correct? A 06/09/2022, 4:25:37 PM Should be 2, 4, and 5. Good Rack. Great Looks. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ JEREMY CREWS (WYOMING) | September 11th, 2023 I chose to purchase the Victory rack for my 2017 GX460 based on two factors: online reviews and the way the rack sits on the vehicle. Note From Victory 4x4: Thanks for the review and advice, Jeremy! 2008 GX470 Rack ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Danielle Kelsch (Arizona) | May 8th, 2023 Fast shipping, easy to assemble, packaged wonderfully, very light, and of course looks super clean! Otherwise I followed all other directions and everything went smoothly Note From Victory 4x4: Thanks for the review and tips, Danielle! Rack Em' Up! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stephen Flatt (Nashville) | July 28th, 2022 Its hard for me to be impressed this day in age and very few things exceed my expectations; however, this roof rack from Victory 4x4 has far exceeded my expectations. I have a 2017 White Lexus GX460. I recently had it lifted 3”, new black rims (Method), and new tires (Nitto Grappler). I needed something to tie it all together, and this rack accomplished my objectives. It looks great! I’ve had multiple compliments on the truck. The rack is extremely sturdy and well built. It took me about 2 hours, start to finish, to install it. The installation video was spot on. It fits the top of the 460 like a glove and looks great. I’m excited for my future off-roading adventures and carrying my canoe. This is an excellent product. Glad I went with this one over the others on the market. Note From Victory 4x4: Thanks for the review Stephen! One Badass Rack! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lucas (Colorado) | October 7th, 2021 I put this bad boy on about 6 months ago and have utilized non stop during camping season here in Colorado. I Love this thing and would highly recommend it! Easy to assemble, easy to instal, looks awesome and performs beautifully. Nice Rack!!! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rick Andal (Santa Clarita, CA) | July 9th, 2020 Just installed my Victory 4x4 roof rack on my 2015 GX460. Video instructions was spot on. Easy to follow. Perfect fit and finish. The quality of this product is far superior from other manufacturer. Cannot wait to install accessories for the rack. Could not be happier with the ease of installation. We’ll be buying other products from Victory. It’s a WINNER. Everyone loves a beautiful rack ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Casey inman (Bend, Oregon) | January 29th, 2020 After doing tons of research I ended up at Victory 4x4. They are a hidden gem in this big industry, the attention to detail in this rack was amazing and have a feeling they are just getting started. The fitment and how to video was spot on. This was a huge upgrade for the GX, fit like a glove Note From Victory 4x4: Glad you like it! Thanks for the review! Solid rack with solid customer support ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jay Alonzo (CA) | January 6th, 2020 Since I didn't have any help to lift the rack once assembled, I laid all the parts on the floor and assembled one by one on the roof of my GX460. I started with the main posts, then the rails, the rest of the parts just bolted right in. no adjustments or modifications needed. It has been 3 months since I installed the rack, no noticeable change in MPG and wind noise. My only regret is not ordering the fairing with the light cutout. Note From Victory 4x4: Thanks for the order and review! Perfect fit ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jay Alonzo (CA) | December 4th, 2019 First, thank you for the fast shipping. received the rack in a week after I ordered. Installation was a little challenging for me since I did not have any help, so I resorted to assemble the rack directly on to the roof. took longer than normal, but all the parts bolted in perfectly with no slight issue. The youtube video helped out a lot also and was very detailed with the assembly. So far I have loaded some sheets of plywood on top for my diy drawer system. Note From Victory 4x4: Thanks for the order, glad it's working out well for you! Great Rack and gets rid of the soccer mom look from the GX460 (My wife said that) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jim Stepkoski (Palm Harbor FL) | October 23rd, 2019 Assembly: If you can use a screwdriver this should be very easy.
